We need your help to let Congress know that a “no” vote on the House Agriculture Committee's version of the 2018 Farm Bill is the best vote for food insecure Americans. The bill proposes harsh cuts to SNAP and we believe it would increase hunger and food insecurity in our community.
CALL TODAY: please call 1-888-398-8702 and follow the prompts to be connected to your representative.
TALKING POINTS: Please let the office know that you are a constituent or that you represent an organization that serves constituents in the district. Tell your story and why you oppose the bill and include some of the talking points below in your own words:
- The bill contains severe cuts to SNAP through burdensome and unnecessary work time limits. We already have a work requirement in Ohio for SNAP and extending that requirement to older adults and families with small children is not in the best interest of the health of constituents.
- The deep cuts to SNAP will negatively impact the people we serve and increase hunger in our community. The Foodbank network cannot make up the difference in lost meals.
- I'm asking Representative [Name] to vote “no” on H.R. 2 - the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 - and to come up with a bipartisan bill that protects and strengthens SNAP, which is a responsive and efficient program already.
Thank you for advocating on behalf of food insecure Ohioans.
