The Foodbank hosted its second May Neighborhood Distribution on Thursday. Though the grocery distribution is only typically held the fourth Thursday of the month, the coronavirus has caused detrimental effects on local families, causing the Foodbank to increase the frequency of its distribution to respond to the significant need within our community.
It was an impactful day for the Foodbank, serving 770 families, more than 2,200 individuals, through its drive-thru model. All who drove through the line, backed up from the Foodbank and wrapped around the block, expressed gratitude for the box of shelf-stable food items, assorted fresh vegetables and variety of dairy products they received.
“I come here because I help take care of the elderly people in my neighborhood and my seven great grandchildren,” said Brenda, a retired restaurant worker. “This is such a blessing.”
The next distribution will be held on May 28, 2020 from 3pm-5pm at your Foodbank.
