The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank announced its Harvest for Hunger Campaign is in need of support to surpass its goal of $1.31 million by April 30, 2018. With only a few weeks left to go in the campaign, the support of the community is crucial.
Beginning today, your donation is doubled and will go twice as far! At the Foodbank, $1 = 4 meals, but this week, April 2-6, during the Harvest for Hunger Match Challenge, $1 = 8 meals. Your donation, up to $25,000, will be matched by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and an anonymous friend of the Foodbank.
“We are approaching the end of this very important campaign that helps support food distribution throughout the entire year. But we need your help to finish strong for our families and neighbors struggling with hunger,” said Dan Flowers President & CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “Surpassing our Harvest for Hunger goal is the only option, friends!”
The Harvest for Hunger Campaign is the Foodbank’s largest fundraising initiative and is a collaborative effort of four Ohio food banks serving 21 counties in Northeast Ohio. All funds raised in the campaign go directly to providing free food for those in need in the local community. It’s being led locally by two respected leaders, Dr. Brian Harte, president of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, and Jim Porter, publisher and CEO of Gatehouse Media Ohio.
“It’s amazing to see so many community partners and leaders team up together, and I’m so proud of this campaign and our community’s willingness to rally around your Foodbank,” said Flowers. “Thank you for all you do, and I look forward to meeting our campaign goal, together!”
