Last year, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank received most of its fresh produce through the Ohio Agriculture Clearance Program. This program is funded bi-annually through the state budget, and currently, the Ohio Senate is working on its version of the 2018-2019 budget. We need your help to ensure this funding continues to provide fresh food in our community. Please call the following key lead members of the Ohio Senate TODAY in support of an increase in funding for the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.
- Senate President Larry Obhof, 614-466-7505
- Senate President Pro Tempore Bob Peterson, 614-466-8156
- Majority Floor Leader Randy Gardner, 614-466-8060
- Majority Whip Gayle Manning, 614-644-7613
- Senate Finance Chair Scott Oelslager, 614-466-0626
- Senate Finance Health and Medicaid Subcommittee Chair Bob Hackett, 614-466-3780
Here’s what you can say:
On behalf of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the statewide network of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks, I want to encourage [Name of Senator] to restore and increase funding for the Ohio Association of Foodbanks by adopting Amendment SC3432 in the state budget. This amendment will restore the $500,000 per year cut from the Ohio Association of Foodbanks budget and increase its funding by an additional $5 million per year.
With additional funding, we can direct even more nutritious, locally grown produce and protein items to hundreds of thousands of families struggling with hunger in our state. Thank you for supporting this proven public-private partnership.
On behalf of the more than 2 million different Ohioans we serve each year, thank you for placing these calls today. Trust us - your calls really do matter in the fight to end hunger!
Thank you for your advocacy efforts!
