Hunger Facts
  • 1 in 7 individuals in our service area is food insecure, meaning they lack regular access to safe and nutritious food.
  • 1 in 4 children in our service area is food insecure.
  • 49 percent of clients served by the Foodbank report having to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities.
  • 42 percent of clients served by the Foodbank report having to choose between paying for food and paying for their rent or mortgage.
  • 35 percent of clients served by the Foodbank are choosing between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care.
  • 69 percent of adult clients served by the Foodbank have a high school education and 19 percent have gone to college.
  • An average of 72,000 meals worth of food is distributed from the Foodbank each day.
Get Involved
  • Financial contributions are the most effective way to help fight hunger. Every dollar that is donated provides four meals for the hungry in our community.
  • Hosting a food & funds drive is a great way to promote community involvement and team building while benefiting those in need. Businesses, schools, churches or other group can hold food and funds drives to collect food and financial contributions to donate to the Foodbank.
  • The Super Six most needed items are boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned tuna, canned soup and canned beef stew.
  • Your donation of time is needed. Volunteers are an essential building block in the commitment to feeding people. A variety of opportunities exist for both groups and individuals.
  • Be an advocate and help keep our elected officials up-to-date about hunger issues by spreading the word about the fight against hunger.
